Studio Boner Pukur Danga
"Seeds of Studio Boner Pukur Danga, was sown by painter and alternative architect Shri Bidyut Roy in the quaint tribal village, Boner Pukur Danga in Shantiniketan in the early 1980s when he started living there during his post graduation from Kala Bhavan. He was later on joined by his better half, Lipi Biswas, who is a trained painter and studio potter, in 1996. Ever since its inception, the doors of the studio remained opened for every creative soul irrespective of the medium they work in. It's been a wonderful meeting place for painters, potters, musicians, designers, artisans, authors, chefs, activists and many more and has witnessed some exemplary interdisciplinary collaborations knowingly and sometimes unknowingly yet symbiotically.
Both Bidyut and Lipi are trained painters, yet both of them chose clay as their medium of expression though in different ways. While the former went on to explore alternative architecture, the later chose studio pottery.
The studio has seen several artisans and designers giving shape to their dreams and thoughts over the years. In the lap of nature the studio has been witness to several transcendental experiences and journeys."
